I threw out my hip and lower back to the point where I could hardly breathe without hurting. I was having sharp pains running down my back and right leg. It was extremely painful lasting for about 3 days. Since I sought help from Dr. Troy I no longer have pain down my leg and now I have movement in my neck. This picture is of me and my family, all of who are patients at ALC.

For 6 months I had suffered from numbness and pressure in my ribs, near my heart, caused by a childhood shoulder injury. I was also suffering from heart palpitations. Since I started chiropractic care the pressure isn’t as prominent or frequent. The palpitations have also decreased; actually I haven’t noticed them in the past 3 weeks!

Name:

I have suffered from back pain since I was 8 years old and neck pain since a car wreck I had in the late 80s. I couldn’t turn my head to the sides and my back hurt almost all of the time. After being under chiropractic care my neck is now completely functional and my back is 98% better (it only acts up when I wear 3” heels).

I had given up all hope when I came across their screening booth at the Senior Expo in April 07. I reluctantly decided to give it a try. When I saw my scan I realized that my problems had really started after a fall out of a camper back in 84. After that my condition really got worse. I suffered from high blood pressure, back and body pain, and had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. When I started care with Dr. Troy I was on 9 daily medications. Now I only take 2-3 a day. I wish I had started care after the fall 23 years ago!

I did not want to deal with pain and aches anymore after suffering from them for approximately 8 years. Chiropractic care has helped lessen the pain. Now I am able to sleep better, work faster and I have a more positive attitude.

I was desperate for relief. A thermal scan showed me REAL information, areas that needed work. With chiropractic care I feel like I am starting to be able to MOVE and LIVE again. My physical condition will not hold me back now. I am able to work 12 hours shifts as an RN, move easily and with less residual pain than I have in YEARS!

My friend had told me that Dr. Troy had helped her with her migraines and that he could help my M.S. I was suffering from fatigue for 15 years. Now I have energy and I feel soooooooo much better.

Name:

I have known Dr. Troy since before he opened his first clinic. My wife and I became patients shortly thereafter and have been with him ever since. I have held a number of jobs that require sitting for long periods of time. As a result my posture suffers, but Dr. Troy keeps me in alignment. :) Without adjustments and massage therapy I’m sure the range of motion in my neck would have been compromised from the auto accident I had. Thanks Dr. Troy and staff!

Name:
Peggy Osterweil
I had been going to Dr. Troy for about 5 weeks when I ran out of my blood pressure and cholesterol medications. I got them 3 days later and started taking them again and did not feel well at all. That was when I decided to quit taking them altogether! I have noticed that I have more mobility and less stiffness since I began care here. I also don’t have trouble going up and down stairs and the ringing in my ears has almost totally gone away!!! People have noticed that I walk and throw the bowling ball straighter. I sleep all night long, eat healthier and feel great!

Name:
Sara Baker
I was getting really sick, dizzy and nauseated, before I came to Dr. Troy’s office. I got to the point that I couldn’t do anything anymore, so I made an appointment. I was suffering from depression and on Celexa for it, fatigue, unusual thoughts, low energy, weight gain, neck/shoulder/gallbladder/ foot pain. I had had these problems for 4-10 years, so long that I began to think it was normal and needed medication for these problems. After my first adjustment the dizziness was gone! I am decreasing the Celexa, I feel LESS depressed and have more energy. I have not had any gallbladders attacks since I started treatment and my foot pain is gone. I now feel hope for my health as I get older! My parents and my daughter are also patients. My daughter’s ear infections are gone.

Name:
Stephanie Jacobs
My parents have had amazing results with chiropractic over the years. My dad has been seizure free for the last 4 years and my mom has increased brain function and energy since her stroke. They were the ones that urged me to try it out and so I signed up for the Extreme Makeover with Dr. Troy. During the Makeover I decided to get under Dr. Troy’s care. I had been suffering from major headaches, severe PMS and lack of energy for the last 6-8 years. My headaches are now gone, PMS is a thing of the past, my energy is back, I have better vision, breathe easier, more restful nights, clear focus and I don’t get sick anymore!

Name:
Suzann Douglass
I had just spent a little over a week in bed due to severe back spasms when I heard Dr. Troy on KPDQ and he made sense. I decided to give it a try. What did I have to lose? I had been suffering from pain, muscle spasms and migraines for about 24 years before coming in. I am now taking far fewer medications. My back hasn’t “gone out” on me even once; it had been going out on a regular basis.

THE BLIND LEADING THE BLIND

Inspired by Dr. Dan Yachter

“Whole nations will be deceived by the medicines of Satan.” —-Rev. 18:23“The necessity of teaching mankind not to take drugs and medicines is a duty incumbent upon all who know their uncertainty and injurious effects; —-Rev. 18:23 “The necessity of teaching mankind not to take drugs and medicines is a duty incumbent upon all who know their uncertainty and injurious effects; and the time is not far distant when the drug system will be abandoned.” Charles Armbruster, M. D.“If all the medicine in the world were thrown into the sea, it would be bad for the fish and good for humanity” O.W. Holmes, (Prof. of Med. Harvard University)“The machinery looks good, the technology seems nice, the stainless steel is shiny, everything smells like isopropyl alcohol; I mean they are the greatest salesmen in the world. We’re going to go look back at this century and we’re going to laugh eventually, but we’ll cry first. This is one of the most barbaric periods. It’s going to be called the Dark Ages of Medicine.”—Dr Shulze (The Sam Biser Herbal Video Collection p198)

Drug companies do not look for “cause.” The drug company business model is based on “sustainability.” Rather than find a cause and cure, patients are simply sustained. There is not a single prescription drug that offers a “cure” to any ailment. Curing a disease versus treating its symptoms does not make “business sense” to drug companies. Just like government can only profit from criminals, the drug industry only makes money from sick people - sick people with insurance. This business model enables drug companies to make huge profits and guarantees dependency among users. This dependency allows drug companies to pay for Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) advertising, drug trials, university research, government lobbying, and “ghost writers.” Combined, these strategies are used to deceive the general public as well as medical doctors. To further increase profit, drug companies invent disease and subsequently, offer a solution. Herein lies the origin of deadly health myths. Such myths include, but are surely not limited to, that of high cholesterol being the culprit of heart disease, insulin being the only treatment for diabetics and that AIDS, rather than starvation, is killing Africans. Through “junk science” and “ghost writing,” the general public and some of the world’s most respected health experts have fallen victim to these myths. Inventing disease is not a “far out” conspiracy theory. It is a simple matter of finding ailments that naturally occur due to poor lifestyle habits and labeling them as a disease. Once “big-pharma” steals jurisdiction over the general public’s common sense, they convince them of the necessity of their drugs. [2006] Interview of Shane Ellison author of Health Myths Exposed

“The pharmaceutical “business with disease” is the largest deception and fraud business in human history. The product “health” promised by drug companies is not delivered to millions of patients. Instead, the “products” most often delivered are the opposite: new diseases and frequently, death.”–Dr Rath MD“In the last century the practice of medicine has become no more than an adjunct to the pharmaceutical industry and the other aspects of the huge, powerful and immensely profitable health care industry. Medicine is no longer an independent profession. Doctors have become nothing more than a link connecting the pharmaceutical industry to the consumer.”—-Dr Vernon Coleman

“Most patients probably assume that when a doctor proposes to use an established treatment to conquer a disease he will be using a treatment which has been tested, examined and proven. But this is not the case. The savage truth is that most medical research is organized, paid for, commissioned or subsidized by the drug industry (and the food, tobacco and alcohol industries). This type of research is designed, quite simply, to find evidence showing a new product is of commercial value. The companies which commission such research are not terribly bothered about evidence; what they are looking for are conclusions which will enable them to sell their product. Drug company sponsored research is done more to get good reviews than to find out the truth.”—-Dr Vernon Coleman

“As a retired physician, I can honestly say that unless you are in a serious accident, your best chance of living to a ripe old age is to avoid doctors and hospitals and learn nutrition and other forms of natural medicine unless you are fortunate enough to have a Maximized Living Chiropractor (emphasis mine) available. Almost all drugs are toxic and are designed only to treat symptoms and not to cure anyone. Vaccines are highly dangerous, have never been adequately studied or proven to be effective, and have a poor risk/reward ratio. Most surgery is unnecessary and most textbooks of medicine are inaccurate and deceptive. Almost every disease is said to be idiopathic (without known cause) or genetic - although this is untrue. In short, our main stream medical system is hopelessly inept and/or corrupt. The treatment of cancer and degenerative diseases is a national scandal. The sooner you learn this, the better off you will be.”—-Dr. Allan Greenberg 12/24/2002“Antidepressants are the biggest fraud in the world. I look at the pharmaceutical companies as the drug barons, the psychopharmcologists as the mules and the patients as the victims. They’re innocent because they think they’re being cured.”–Robert Evans, film producer (Observer Magazine 22 sept 2002)“Now, if doctors were aware that medicine was not a science and that they were pulling what is undoubtedly the largest and most successful confidence trick ever tried the damage would be fairly minimal. But the problem is compounded by the fact that the vast majority of doctors believe the lie that they are taught; they believe that they are scientists, practicing an applied science.”—-Dr Vernon Coleman

“Drugs never cure disease. They merely hush the voice of nature’s protest, and pull down the danger signals she erects along the pathway of transgression. Any poison taken into the system has to be reckoned with later on even though it palliates present symptoms. Pain may disappear, but the patient is left in a worse condition, though unconscious of it at the time.”~ Daniel. H. Kress, M.D.

“The greatest part of all chronic disease is created by the suppression of acute disease by drug poisoning.” Henry Lindlahr, M.D.“The person who takes medicine must recover twice, once from the disease and once from the medicine.” William Osler, M.D.

Dr. Dan!It was December 2001 when we began seeing you.  Hannah was 5 months and Emma had just turned 3.  This is when I woke up one morning with pain in all of my joints and swelling all over my body.  I went to the emergency room and the doctor ran tests - which I didn’t even know what he was checking for - and he told me that all of the tests came back negative, but we wouldn’t know about the rheumatoid arthritis for a few days.  He advised me to see a rheumatologist. The Rheumatologist I saw ran his own tests and told me that my blood work was perfect, probably better than his own blood except that my ANA levels were off the charts - 1:1280 and they should be 1:45 or 1:70 (or something like that).  When I asked for an explanation as to what is ANA, he said that it was too difficult to explain but that it indicates an auto-immune disease. He guessed that I probably had RH or Lupus or Scleroderma or maybe all of the above.  He said that he can’t specifically diagnose me because none of my internal organs have been affected.  When I asked what I or we should do now, he said that there was nothing to do, these things are chronic and degenerative and when one or more of my internal organs are affected, then he could make a diagnosis.

You may remember that when I told you this you told me not to accept any of this as truth for me (which I haven’t and continue not to) and advised me to see you 3 times a week for adjustments and change my diet to no dairy, red meat, sugar, wheat and to exercise; which I began to do - even as exhausted as I was with a new baby and a toddler. It took a while, about 2 - 2 1/2 years, & then I visited another rheumatologist (I fired the first one) and my blood tests came back with normal levels of ANA- 1:60.  I began to cheer in the office and almost jumped up and down and I would have hugged the guy, but he sat motionless and emotionless and said, “Sometimes these things can fluctuate.  I am going to refer you to the Mayo Clinic.”  Unbelievable!

I know that I didn’t need to go to the Mayo Clinic, but just to prove a point, I did. The doctor there mocked the tests that showed 1:1280 for two years and then about 4 months after the last high ANA, there was the one test that showed 1:60.  I said, “But there are two more tests spanning about 8 months showing normal ANA.”  He scoffed again and said, “We’ll do our own tests.” He did and guess what, they were also normal. He decided to diagnose me with scleroderma anyway and said that I must be in the 2 percent with auto immune and normal ANA. He decided on the scleroderma because I have Raynaud’s Phenomena and because he found that my esophagus is not moving the food down the way it should.  When I asked what this means for me - I wondered exactly what would he be waiting for. He said that one day I may be eating and I may go to swallow and the food will get stuck and will not be able to go either way and then I would have to go to the ER and they would have to widen the esophagus and then it could possibly happen again at a later date. Then he prescribed one of the drugs for acid reflux. I said that I don’t like to take drugs, and asked for an alternative. He said that there was no alternative.  I also told him that I disagreed with his diagnosis. Further, I told him that the exact scenario he just described about what could happen to my esophagus just happened to my sister (11 years my senior) and asked if he had any thoughts on that. He just thought that was interesting.

I no longer have a need to see any rheumotologist.  I see a dermatologist every six months because I had melanoma 11 years ago. Initially, he accepted the diagnosis from the Mayo Clinic Dr. but now he disregards it and feels it was misdiagnosed! The really good news is that my little girls are soooo healthy!  I don’t even remember the last time I took them to the pediatrician.  I remember one time, a while ago, I brought Emma, I think for a check up I had to pay $10 for them to get her records out of archives - sounds like a hoax to me. Emma rides horses and every now and then she takes a fall but since we see you regularly, I don’t worry about it.

Thank you,

Mary

What is the medical solution to any problem? What do they do if you have heart disease, stroke, cancer, diabetes, depression, obesity, anxiety, fatigue, chronic pain, osteoporosis, fibromyalgia, decreased sex drive, decreased fertility, indigestion, accelerated aging, ADHD, or high cholesterol? There are 2 solutions they are trained to offer (DRUGS AND SURGERY) and worse, they are brainwashed into believing that any other solutions are unscientific and won’t work. Solutions like chiropractic!

Medical care should be used for what it is best at: emergency/urgent/crisis intervention which, nobody can argue, in most cases saves lives.

At the end of the day, the only thing that matters is results. Are patients getting well? Are they living healthy, drug-free abundant lives? Are they learning how to make the right lifestyle choices? Is their doctor IDENTIFYING the cause of their problem? Is their doctor correcting the cause of their problem? Is their doctor eliminating interference to the full expression of life force and healing potential in their body?Go to www.youtube.com/drdanyachter to learn how another YFCC patient has come off her blood pressure medications through choosing healthier lifestyle habits & having interference removed from her nerve system (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wKgQaJ1za0)to learn how another YFCC patient has come off her blood pressure medications through choosing healthier lifestyle habits & having interference removed from her nerve system (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wKgQaJ1za0) to learn how another YFCC patient has come off her blood pressure medications through choosing healthier lifestyle habits & having interference removed from her nerve system (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wKgQaJ1za0)

School is back in swing and for some parents it is more of a stressor than a relief. Report cards and progress are evaluated and often opinions between teachers and parents can differ. Labels of Attention –Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and other suggested diagnosis can be thrown at parents as a way to explain why “Eric” isn’t fitting into the mold of the classroom setting. One day last year a mom walked into my office, frustrated and teary eyed. She held in her hand a prescription for Ritalin, and was desperate to not fill it. Her son, just couldn’t make a good choice at school. His hands were on other kids, and he was unable to stay on task, basically he was a total fidget box.One day last year a mom walked into my office, frustrated and teary eyed. His hands were on other kids, and he was unable to stay on task, basically he was a total fidget box.She had tried vitamins, eliminating food coloring, sugar, you name it. After some simple allergy testing, in the office we found that her son was having a reaction to milk. For two weeks she eliminated cow’s milk from his diet. The teacher called Mom at home, to thank her for going through with the prescription, it had helped and her son was back on track and a joy to be around. Imagine the surprise when she told the teacher that she had stopped serving cows milk at breakfast, and requested her son have juice instead of milk at lunch. A simple soy milk switch, solved the problem.

A simple soy milk switch, solved the problem. It’s not always this simple, but more often than not it can be. In the United States, between 1-6 percent of adults, and 3 -10 percent of children suffer from (ADHD). Problems with attention go far beyond the ability to concentrate. Ritalin is a schedule II controlled substance (same class of drug as cocaine), and both its production and distribution are tightly controlled. Concerns about possible over-diagnosis and over-treatment of children with ADHD have been prominent in media reports, as have various competing claims about the safety and efficacy of the various treatments.

Medication may be necessary, but sometimes a change in diet or a realignment of the spine can be just as helpful, without the harmful side effects. Recent research efforts are now bringing into fruition supporting evidence upon the chiropractic principle of the supremacy of the nervous system. ADHD is a central nervous system disorder Attempts at understanding the underlying neurobiology of ADHD remains a challenge. Studies have shown that the majority of children do improve under specific chiropractic care and has the potential to become an important non-drug intervention for children with hyperactivity or ADHD.

If the body is fighting with something inside, and the energy the body needs to function is blocked, problems can occur. Children’s bodies are moving constantly and growing. Keep school a success and a joy in their life. Visit Absolute Life Chiropractic to see how safe, effective alternatives to medicine can solve problems, without side effects or addiction worries.

The Best Investment Planner in the World

Filed under: health, medicine, Chiropractic, Maximized living, Disease — drtroy @ 3:56 pm

I was recently reviewing documents for the Center for Disease Control (CDC) about the cost of treatment for common diseases here in the United States. Heart disease, cancer and diabetes are among the top. The CDC reported that 44% of Americans take one or more medications to treat the above listed diseases and that the drugs consumed are not life saving.

Within the group of people over 65 years of age, 84% of them are taking multiple medications. And if they don’t have insurance that pay for medications, they are paying on an average of 34% of their after-tax income. For those under 18 years of age, 25% are taking one or more prescriptions. According the MSNBC.com the number of deaths associated with toxic combinations of pills has risen 3,000% in the last twenty years. Many people will recall the actor Heath Ledger’s death, which was associated with taking a mixture of prescription chemicals that ultimately caused his respiratory system to become lethally suppressed.

I also found on www.mnsbc.com that in the last two years, Americans are listed fifteenth in the world for health out of the top nineteen industrialized nations. We are spending more money on health care than any other country and yet we are close to last place in health. Medicare, when started, used to have thirty people paying into the system for one person drawing money from it for treatments. Now it is two paying in for every one seeking payment for health care expenses. Look, if you develop type II diabetes at age 20 the average cost of treatment per year is $10,000. Multiply that by 30 years and at age 50 that is $300,000.00 spent to treat a condition that is almost 100% reversible and preventable — but not by conventional methods.

We see people working the first half of their life to get wealth and the last half of their life to get health. 70% of bankruptcies in America are due to medical expenses. So here is the best financial advice in the world: take a small amount of money every month or year and invest it in your health. Invest it in people and coaches that can show you how to avoid sickness and disease. Invest in systems that can keep your health and vitality.

Imagine this, you learned at age 20 how to avoid and prevent type II diabetes (remember average cost $10K a year for treatment). You took $2,000.00 of the $10,000 and paid someone (example: a Maximized Living Mentor) to show you how to avoid sickness and disease, to eat well, to remove nerve system pressure, to exercise for health, and manage your peace for the next 30 years. If you take the extra $8,000 that remains and invested it for 30 years, at just 6% interest you would have $669,609.00 at age 50. That’s just if you only avoided type II diabetes. A return on investment of over a half million dollars, just by having someone show you and your family how to be well. That is the best investment you can make.

Invest in your health. That is why we do what we do here. To show you and your family how to avoid sicknesses and diseases, that would potentially drain your savings and resources to treat many preventable diseases, which could and ultimately leave you bankrupt. So make good use of the best investment planner in the world! And remember the Maximized Living Makeover, September 27th from 10 AM -1 PM. www.mlhc24.com Invest three hours that will change your life. Why Should Children Have Chiropractic Care?

More and more parents are seeking chiropractic care for their children.  Many spinal problems seen in adults began as early as birth. Even so called ‘natural’ birthing methods can stress an infant’s spine and developing nerve system. The resulting irritation to the nerve system caused by spinal and cranial misalignment can be the cause of many newborn health complaints. Colic, breathing problems, nursing difficulties, sleep disturbances, allergic reactions and chronic infections can often be traced to nerve system stress.

Since significant spinal trauma can occur at birth, many parents have their newborns checked right away. As the infant grows, learning to hold up the head, sit, crawl and walk are all activities that affect spinal alignment and are important times to have a child checked by a Doctor of Chiropractic.

As the child begins to participate in regular childhood activities like skating or riding a bike, small yet significant spinal misalignments (subluxations) may occur. If neglected, the injuries during this period of rapid growth may lead to more serious problems later in life. Subtle trauma throughout childhood will affect the future development of the spine leading to impaired nervous system function. Any interference to the vital nerve system will adversely affect the body’s ability to function at its best.

One of the most common reason parents seek care for their child is trauma from an injury of some sort. These misalignments may or may not result in immediate pain or symptoms. Regular chiropractic checkups can identify potential spinal injury from these traumas, make the correction early in life and help avoid many of the health complaints seen later in adults. Proper spinal hygiene is an important key to better health.

Another sought out reason for care is the resolution of a particular symptom or condition. Parents seek care for conditions such as colic, ear infections, asthma, allergies and headaches (to name a few) because they have heard from other parents that chiropractic care can help.

It is important to understand that the doctor of chiropractic does not treat conditions or diseases. The expertise of the chiropractor is in checking the child’s spine for misalignments that impair nervous system function therefore affecting overall body function. The bones of the spine, the vertebrae, house and protect the spinal cord. The spinal cord is an extension of the brain and carries information from the brain to the body parts and back to the brain again. Subluxations interfere with the nerves’ ability to transmit this vital information.

The nerve system controls and coordinates the function of all the systems in the body: circulatory, respiratory, digestive, hormonal, eliminative and immune system. Any aspect of health may be impaired by nerve interference. The chiropractic adjustment restores nerve system function allowing the body the ability to express a greater state of health and well-being.

The doctor of chiropractic will take a case history and perform a chiropractic exam to determine if spinal subluxations exist. Chiropractic adjusting procedures are modified to fit a child’s size, weight, and unique spinal condition. They are both gentle and specific to the child’s developing spinal structures. Most parents report that their children enjoy their chiropractic adjustments and look forward to subsequent visits. They also report that their children experience a greater level of health while under regular chiropractic care.

To enhance your child’s ability to function in a greater state of health, we can help you find a doctor of chiropractic near you who is dedicated to serving children with the utmost of care. Once your family has experienced the many benefits of chiropractic care—please help us tell others! Source www.ipca.com

Chiropractic may help adults suffering from attention deficit

Filed under: medicine, children, Chiropractic, Dr. Troy, Maximized living, ADD/ADHD — drtroy @ 9:29 am

After Practicing for 15 years the art, science and philosophy of Chiropracitc, I, Troy Dreiling, have seen many cases of ADD/ADHD improve with our methods. Our center Absolute Life Chiropractic (www.MLHC24.com) is focused on getting sick people well. Enjoy Reading this pilot study.  www.absolutelife.com

A pilot study, published in the Journal of Vertebral Subluxation Research  suggests that chiropractic care may help adults suffering from concentration problems and attention deficit (ADD/ADHD). The study was performed by Yannick Pauli, DC, director of the “Centre Wellness NeuroFit” in Lausanne, Switzerland. Dr. Pauli is a chiropractor specializing in wellness neurology.
“In this pilot study, we used objective outcome measures to evaluate attention in nine adult patients before and after two months of wellness chiropractic care. All patients experienced significant improvement in concentration and 88% normalized parts of the test,” explained Dr. Pauli. “Although the results are preliminary and more research is needed, the outcome of the study suggests that patients suffering from attention deficit benefited from chiropractic care.”
Research has shown that the ability to concentrate is affected in a number of disorders such as Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), traumatic brain injuries, dementia, Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease.
In the United States, between 1-6 percent of adults and 3-10 percent of children suffer from ADHD. Problems with attention go far beyond the ability to concentrate. Epidemiological studies have shown that individuals suffering from ADHD suffer greater risks associated with daily living such as higher rates of car accidents, increased risk of substance abuse, greater risk of failing school, increased likelihood of divorce and even greater difficulty managing money.
According to Pauli, concentration problems affect all parts of our life and even possibly our ability to heal. Although most people think of attention as the ability to focus on the external world only, new health paradigms indicate that we can direct our attention inward as well.  The clinical experience of Pauli and his colleagues suggests that our ability to heal is highly dependent upon the ability of our brain to pay attention to what is going in the body.
“Studies done with people suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) suggest that those patients suffer when parts of their brain become deactivated, such as the prefrontal cortex, while others become hyperfunctioning,” Pauli noted.” Our hypothesis is that this leads to an inability for the brain to pay attention to the body’s internal processes, resulting in decreased body awareness and decreased ability to access healing resources. Our study is part of a first attempt to document whether chiropractic care could be helpful to improve attention, and therefore all areas of life that are dependent upon this crucial cognitive function.”
Usually, attention deficit is a clinical diagnosis. But to avoid potential subjectivity, Pauli used an objective measure of attention, called a continuous performance test. “It is a computer-based evaluation that objectively measures various parameters of attention” he explained. “This system is also used by some neurologists and psychiatrists to find the exact dosage of medication they are going to prescribe for attention deficit sufferers. Our preliminary results suggest that attention can be improved naturally with chiropractic.”
The connection between attention, a process occurring in the brain, and chiropractic, which is generally associated with spinal health, is not readily obvious to most people. Yet, the research emphasizes the direct link between the spine and brain activity.
“As a chiropractor specializing in wellness neurology, I understand that the spine is as much about neurology as it is about biomechanics” Pauli states.
The articulations and the muscles of the spine are rich in mechanoreceptors, which are sensors that send information to the nerve system. “Each time we work with the spine, we activate neurological circuits in the direction of the brain and bring the nerve system into balance,” the researcher says.
Pauli also notes that chiropractors affect, in particular, a small part at the back of the brain called the cerebellum. Studies have shown that this structure is involved in attention. “Higher parts of the brain are also dependent upon the proper balance and function in the cerebellum,” he elaborated. “If the cerebellum does not function at par, the rest of the brain becomes somewhat clumsy and by activating the spinal receptors and balancing the cerebellum, we help the brain function better.”
According to Matthew McCoy, DC, editor of the Journal of Vertebral Subluxation Research, “this preliminary study is exciting. It is part of an increasing amount of research suggesting that chiropractic care may be an effective natural choice for people suffering from ADD/ADHD. It offers the possibility of a new option for millions of children and adults that are seeking to manage their conditions naturally.”
The Journal of Vertebral Subluxation Research is a peer-reviewed scientific journal devoted to subluxation-centered chiropractic research and is affiliated with the World Chiropractic Alliance, an international organization representing doctors of chiropractic and promoting the traditional, drug-free and wellness-oriented form of chiropractic.

When Medicare is not enough

Filed under: health, medicine, Chiropractic, Dr. Troy, Maximized living, Disease — drtroy @ 11:26 am

Faced with a growing gap between a government check and medical bills, elderly must dig deep.

[Excerpts from (Raleigh) News & Observer Posted: Sunday, Aug. 03, 2008 By Thomas Goldsmith]
Jake Smith, a man who’s good for what he owes, sold his paid-off home of 33 years recently to settle about $15,000 in medical debt that wasn’t covered by Medicare. Smith, 80, a retired truck driver who volunteered for the Navy at age 17, relies on basic Medicare as his only medical insurance.
More than one in ten older Americans have only Medicare, the federal program that pays a portion of doctor and hospital bills but leaves the rest to patients. Out-of-pocket payments by Medicare recipients such as Smith will continue to climb as federal officials try to keep the program from consuming an ever larger share of government spending, health-care researchers say. Smith’s wife, Christine, died of cancer last year. Selling the home they’d shared – and moving to senior housing downtown – was the only way he could catch up on the bills from doctors and Duke Hospital for her past care.
“It’s very shocking to people when they go on Medicare,” said Gina Upchurch, executive director for Senior Pharmacist, a Durham nonprofit agency that helps older people with prescription drug costs. “You sort of have this view that ‘This means my health care will be taken care of.’ But once they get on Medicare, it’s not all easygoing from there on out.”
Meanwhile, seven miles from his former home in a woodsy area south of downtown, Jake Smith welcomed a visitor to his apartment. “Look around – you’ve seen it,” he said. Smith says his new apartment – a bedroom, a bathroom and a kitchenette – was the least expensive place he could find.
“I miss being able to go out in the yard without worrying about somebody shooting me,” Smith said. Smith, whose bad back bothers him, is having his own health problems now, and bills keep coming.
NEGLECTING YOUR HEALTH, LIVING IN THE MEDICAL MODEL AND LISTENING TO YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY WILL DESTROY YOUR HEALTH AND RUIN THE LIFE YOU LIVE!
“I’m having to carry a Medigap policy, and it’s costing me and my wife $444 a month just to carry it,” said Marvin Johnson, 82. Payments for the Johnsons’ basic Medicare and for their drug plan come out of their Social Security checks each month. Between their Medigap insurance and those deductions, health insurance is costing them more than $8,600 annually from their fixed income.
“They didn’t give a darn about the senior citizens,” Johnson said. “They spent more money on the prescription drug program telling us how good it was than on the program itself.”
THEY DON’T GIVE A DARN ABOUT ANYTHING BUT MAKING MONEY OFF YOU AND YOUR FAMILY DURING ILNESS.  THEY DON’T PAY FOR YOU TO BE HEALTHY — THEY NEVER WILL.  THEY MAKE MONEY OFF OF YOU WHEN YOU ARE SICK.  IT IS TIME TO HELP YOUR FRIENDS OUT OF THE TRAP.  IF YOU DON’T TELL THEM HOW THEY CAN GET HEALTHY IN OUR OFFICE, THEY WILL END UP LIKE THESE FOLKS: HOMELESS, BROKE AND SICK!
